Sometimes my ideas are so obvious that I cringe at calling them an “idea” at all.
But this impromptu napkin ring made me happy because it’s so darn cute with all its organic texture and nod to the season. Nothing brings fall to the table like the symbolic pumpkin.
So just in case doing this has never dawned on you too, I thought I’d share it!
My Easy DIY Fall Napkin Rings Secret.
The good news is that this is one of those DIY projects that requires no hot glue gun, no power tools, no paint, no cardboard tubes, and zero crafting skills.
What’s the only thing you need for these homemade napkin rings? A seasonal pick!
I found these organic vine pumpkin picks in the fall decor aisle of Hobby Lobby, originally intending to cut off the pick and place the grapevine mini pumpkins in my fall table centerpiece. In a moment of lazy crafting genius, it dawned on me that by shaping the pick into a circle, they would make the perfect napkin holders.
Simple DIY Napkin Rings in a Flash.
Here’s how easy it is:
1. Remove the price tag.
2. Bend the pick all the way to the left, then shape it into a circle.
3. If the pick is long, continue bending so the stem overlaps like this (I needed to make the circle smaller for these picks or the pumpkin flopped over when I laid them on the dinner plate):
Thread a cloth napkin through and boom—instant unique napkin rings with a seasonal theme! And for little effort and not much money (these picks were about three dollars each). Plus, since I didn’t cut the pick off, I’ll be able to use them again in other ways.
I added one to each place setting with burgundy fabric napkins to match my moody color fall theme.
They give the same rustic look as the twine pumpkin napkin rings craft I’ve seen so many times, but these were much faster! These would look pretty for both casual fall gatherings and even more formal elegant table settings.
Other Instant DIY Napkin Ring Ideas for Holidays and Parties.
You’ll probably be seeing a lot more of this napkin ring idea in my tablescapes because I get tired of using the same old tired, plain napkin rings. And this easy craft idea is the perfect way to add that little something extra to a theme table.
Try shopping the holiday decor aisle or wedding section at the local craft store or dollar store for small and interesting picks (the picks in the floral section will probably be too large and long). Some ideas to get you started:
- For the Thanksgiving table or a fall dinner party, tie on a small name card with jute twine to add a personal touch, making them also serve as place cards.
- For the holiday season try some winter greenery or something fun like glittery peppermint picks.
- For spring, faux flowers are a natural, especially one beautiful blossom. And for Easter a colorful egg, a cute bunny, or a carrot would be adorable.
