Come Sit By Me: Volume 91
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

- I decided to add picture lights to the entertainment center this week, which has to be the very last thing I’ll do to this outdated beast of a piece of furniture that came with the house when I bought it. I attached them with Command picture hanging strips for now because I’m still deciding whether they add just the right finishing touch or if they’re one decorating step too far. What do you think?
- I’ve found women immediately connect with some kind of weird kinship over shopping. I can’t tell you how many times complete strangers ask me my opinion on what they’re thinking about buying (and I’m always happy to give it). Case in point—this week I bought a huge piece of artwork that I wasn’t even sure was going to fit in my SUV. Random women in the parking lot to the rescue! The first wouldn’t take no for an answer when I insisted I didn’t want to impose and helped me load it. A few minutes later another woman offered me one of her bungee cords to hold the trunk down and told me her husband would never miss it. Apparently we women find joy in enabling each other’s home decorating habits.
- I also watched a documentary on Amazon Prime this week called “Alternate Endings: Six New Ways to Die in America.” I know, not exactly an uplifting recommendation. But it was surprisingly interesting. It followed people who chose everything from becoming part of a living coral reef, to having their ashes launched into space, to a green burial with no casket or embalming where they naturally become part of the earth and nourish a newly planted tree. I’m still not sure what my own final wishes will be, but I’m pretty sure they won’t be nearly as interesting as some of these. The one idea that most resonated with me was the living wake, where a terminally ill man was celebrated by family and friends while he was still alive to enjoy it.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
If you’ve collected beautiful items over the years, don’t hide them away. I loved the ideas in this article for turning treasured finds into meaningful displays that add personality, tell a story, and make a home feel truly lived in.

I’ve always loved a glass coffee table for keeping a room feeling open and light, especially when you have a beautiful rug you don’t want to hide. This one has such timeless lines that it would work with everything from traditional to coastal decorating.

If you’re looking for an easy appetizer that always looks impressive, this shrimp platter is such a great idea. It’s simple to put together, beautiful for entertaining, and one of those recipes your guests will keep coming back to.

If you’re looking for artwork that feels timeless but also fresh, these abstract heron prints are such a lovely choice. The soft sage green and blues would be beautiful over a sofa, buffet, or bed, adding just the right touch of color and elegance.

One of the easiest ways to freshen up your living room for summer is by restyling your coffee table. This post is has simple ideas that add color and texture with the laid back style of summer—my favorite is the fresh greenery cuttings.
