Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
Happy September…I hope you had a good Labor Day weekend!

- After returning from Colorado last week I was on to my friend’s fabulous resort-like home on Lake Travis in Austin to spend the three day weekend. Unlike the big party there in June, this trip was just our small circle of friends, the ones I’ve known for 25 years since our babies were rolling around together under the parachute at Gymboree. We spent hours floating the lazy river, laughing, and catching up on life. The stormy weather held off and even when a little rain did come through, some of us just stayed in the hot tub because… why not? We were already wet. (Disclaimer: there was no lightning.)
- After those two back-to-back trips, I jumped right back into my routine with a workout class the morning after I got home. Somehow even though my body was still tired from hiking, I mustered the energy to hang on in the plank contest at the end of class, lasting 7 1/2 minutes before tapping out. Even though that still wasn’t enough to be the longest, I’ll count that as a little win because I’m taking an age handicap. I’m kind of dreading my impending milestone birthday looming over me in exactly one month.
- Now that September’s here, I spent a little time this week removing summer decor around the house, and I’m starting to pull out fall. For me, it always feels like limbo until I swap things over. That undone feeling really bugs me, so my goal is to have it wrapped up by the end of next week. We’ll see if that’s realistic.😬
