Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

- I’m wrapping work up a little earlier than usual this week for some fun Memorial Day weekend plans, which means I’ve been trying to cram five days of productivity into about two and a half (I know I sound like a broken record but it’s a good problem to have.) I’ve been finishing my summer house tour to go live Monday, and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on!

- Last Sunday we went to the Men of Nehemiah Bread of Life service again in south Dallas. It’s been awhile, and every single time I leave there feeling energized, emotional, and aware of how timid most of us suburban church-goers are about expressing joy. The men sing with their whole hearts…clapping, shouting, smiling, and worshipping with such raw gratitude. Some of the men share testimonies about the real life hard stuff they’ve gone through or are currently struggling with. MON is an amazing recovery and reentry program that helps men rebuild their lives after addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. Something about the combination of its faith-based and military style structure gives it a success rate that’s much higher than most rehab programs. My boyfriend mentored one of the graduates last year, so getting to sit down for coffee with him after the service and hear how well he’s doing now was really special.

- The weather in Texas always keeps you guessing and we’ve had some rain and cooler temps for May this week. On our walk one evening we caught part of this rainbow after a storm rolled through. The clouds were covering half of it, but I always try to remember to stop and notice the little things during these busy days.

This sophisticated social space is stunning with its elegant soft blue and green color palette and layered textured details like the tassel trim and grasscloth console.

This coastal landscape has such a calm, collected look and would be beautiful in a living room, bedroom, or hallway, especially for summer. The soft blues and neutrals make it one of those easy pieces that can fit in so many places.

This grilled California avocado chicken looks like the perfect fresh, healthy, and easy meal for summer dinners.

These mango wood trinket trays would be so pretty styled on a coffee table, kitchen counter, or bedside table holding candles, jewelry, or little everyday essentials.

If your hydrangeas start drooping, don’t give up on them too quickly. This simple trick for reviving wilted hydrangeas is an old-fashioned flower hack to save these water-loving blooms.
