Come Sit By Me: Volume 69
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

- Most of this week was spent in Waco again. We went to two Baylor basketball games—one win, one loss, but had a good time at both. You just can’t beat a fun college atmosphere.
- During the day, we took some long walks around campus and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. Baylor sits right along the Brazos River, and is in my opinion, just the right size. It feels peaceful in a way larger college campuses don’t always feel.

- I love taking in the little details like the engraved Scripture verses tucked into walkways and building facades, the way the chapel dome and steeples rise up into the sky, the perfectly manicured lawns with the stately oak trees.

- I discovered there’s a library at Baylor devoted entirely to poets Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning. It’s a step back into the Victorian era, with lots stained glass windows, grand intricate ceilings, and glass cases filled with handwritten letters and rare books. Even if you’re not a poetry person, it’s hard not to appreciate the level of love letters those two must have been able to write to each other.
- We went to an engagement party one night and dinner another night at a friend’s home, and man, what an unexpected treat that was! We had a delicious home-cooked Mexican meal and a tequila tasting (I still feel good about choosing not to participate in that). But the best part for me was feeling like I had stepped into the most GORGEOUS home straight out of the pages of Veranda magazine. I so wish I could share it with you—this woman had the most exquisite taste, but I didn’t want to be awkward and ask to take pictures.😳
- Back home I saw the wildest thing today. A woman in front of my gym was “driving” her car up to the door with her phone. No one in the driver’s seat. I was like, “are regular people allowed to have self-driving cars already?” I looked it up and I think it must be a feature certain Teslas have called Smart Summon that lets you move the car slowly in a parking lot or driveway using the app. It was still bizarre… and no, the irony is not lost on me that the gym is probably not where you want to save steps to your car.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
I could linger over these sunny, beautifully layered spaces all day. The fresh colors, classic patterns, and gracious mix of old and new feel so uplifting and welcoming, just the kind of rooms that make you want to invite friends over and stay awhile.

I absolutely adore a beautiful blue and white lamp, and this scalloped hexagon beauty feels like something you’d find in a charming, well-loved home that’s been collected over time.

Chicken piccata with lemon sauce is one of those classic recipes that most people love and feels a bit special with its bright lemon, tender chicken, and simple pan sauce.

There’s something so timeless about a well-designed sideboard, and this one has that classic look that never goes out of style. I love the clean lines and generous storage, perfect for tucking away entertaining pieces while keeping the top beautifully styled with lamps, trays, or a favorite vase of flowers.

I was intrigued by this Nashville downsizing tour, and how many charming details can shine in a smaller space. Proof that classic style and personality don’t have to live in a grand home.

Wow!! The first picture of the dining room. Loved it had that tall chest in there. Even better the purple floral chair in the corner. Loved how your eye just around the room.
