Come Sit By Me: Volume 8
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
- It’s been a wonderful Christmas week here. I’m beat, but in a good way. It was a whirlwind of activities for two solid days. Christmas Eve was cooking, eating, and cleaning up a full turkey dinner, dressing up and going to church, and then changing again for our annual dress-up theme. This year it was heroes and villains (which the little ones loved!) I realize this is not a thing in most families—we somehow evolved from a family Christmas t-shirt to a full-on theme over the years. It’s kind of become a fun “costumes and cocktails” activity to end Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day brought opening presents, a mimosa bar, and some of the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had made by my nephew. Later in the day we had the Christmas Family Olympics, put together by my niece. And let me tell you, for games where there is absolutely no prize for winning, the competition was a little too fierce.😂

- Have you ever used the background music with scenes for your TV on YouTube? I’m so into them right now. If you search “background music” on YouTube this time of year, you’ll get lots of results with pretty Christmas and winter scenes. They’re perfect to play in the background for relaxing, working, cooking, or even for parties where you want to be able to talk. As I write this, I’m listening to this one (because I’m partial to the jazz ones): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n-Pe4AU0bU&t=29s.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
This winter living room has me craving a calm and cozy feel in mine. I love this idea of keeping a few holiday decor items like this around for January.

This faux fur blanket will keep you cozy all winter long. It comes in tons of colors and goes with any decor style.

This recipe for steak and boursin cheese crostini would make a perfect appetizer paired with a little wine for a New Year’s party or even just a night in.

Feel like you are drowning in clutter after the holidays and want a refresh? This is a great post for some post holiday decor ideas.

This is such a smart organization solution for Christmas lights. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

What have you seen this week that you’re obsessed with? Let all of us in on it in the comments!
