Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

• We’ve had some really beautiful, warm days here this week and I’ve been enjoying evening walks. I saw a mama duck and her gaggle of ducklings at the neighborhood pond, a sight this time of year that always brings me a little spark of joy. Even though it’s still technically spring, after Easter passes that decor around the house doesn’t seem so appropriate anymore. I did manage to put away the bunnies and eggs, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. Summer decorating is going to have to wait until May this time, which in the home blogging world is considered late.
• Don’t know if I can blame this on spring fever, but I cannot figure out what the heck is going on with my dog right now! She’s 7 years old and all of a sudden acting like she’s training to be a little huntress out in the wild. She’s never acted like this—shredding her bed with her nails, licking the air, scratching and carrying around her stuffed toys like prized prey. In an attempt to calm her three and a half pounds of crazy, I’ve ordered a lick mat, a puzzle ball, and some hemp treats in hopes of channeling some of that energy.

• Besides my insane pup, here’s another real-life peek into my home this week. Whenever we watch TV, we like to work on a puzzle at the same time, and this one has been especially fun for me—a Louisiana theme with all the things my home state is known for. As you can see this room is not always styled and photo ready. But I love having the puzzle board so I can just pick it all up mid-puzzle whenever I need to make the coffee table look presentable.

There’s something so simple and beautiful about bringing a few branches indoors to add life to a room. This easy decorating idea is free, but faux branches have become so good, they’re also an option when you can’t get or don’t want the real thing.

This simple ribbed vase is one of those versatile pieces you can use just about anywhere in your home. It’s perfect for holding those branches or fresh stems.

There’s nothing more Southern than a good pimento cheese, and this recipe keeps it simple and full of flavor. It’s the kind of staple that’s perfect for gatherings, easy lunches, or to whip up and have with crackers when friends stop by.

These striped pillow covers are such an easy way to freshen up a patio for the coming season. They also come in other pretty summer patterns.

This room is such a beautiful example of how to mix classic pieces with fresh color and patterns in a way that feels both elegant and fun. This Dallas designer is a master at curating interiors that are refined, yet full of personality.

Kate, is your little Bijoux just upset because you have been away so much? Our little dog didn’t like when we went away and had someone come and stay in our home to look after her. Our little dogs are so much a part of us and they miss us so much when we leave them for a few days. Hope the new items you purchased for her help to settle her down. Your little Bijoux is such a little sweetheart! I love seeing the pictures of her.
Kate, it is so nice to hear I’m not the only one who is not ready for summer and only put away bunnies and eggs! I do still have the Spring wreath on the front door but it is just flowers and greens. I think I can get by with it until the end of April.
I love my puzzle board too. My husband doesn’t share my love for them though so it stays on the dining table.
I have gotten a new umbrella, rug and cushions for the patio furniture as well as potting some new plants and flowers in our backyard too. So nice to enjoy our weather before it gets too hot. I’m in southern Arizona.
It was so nice visiting with you! Have a relaxing weekend and I look forward to hearing from you again!!
I am obsessed with my ferns. They are taller each day! I live here in NE Ohio.
I’m jealous…I love a good healthy fern!
