Come Sit By Me: Volume 34
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
Some weeks are full of excitement…and then there are the weeks where the biggest news is new tires and an eye exam.😂
- But I’m not complaining. After months of dealing with frustrating dry eye issues and a couple of corneal erosions, I finally got some good news at my recheck this week—my eye is almost completely healed! It was also a glaucoma screening (since they’re watching me for that too), and thankfully, everything looked great. Bonus: my vision is still 20/20 since my cataract and lasik surgery in 2014. Less of a bonus? Having my eyes dilated and then trying to look at a computer screen all afternoon trying to get work done.
- I am working ahead this week for a very fun reason—I’m headed to my friend’s gorgeous lake house at Lake Travis in Austin this weekend! It even has its own lazy river, and I fully intend to make many laps around it while sipping on a frozen margarita.
- On the not-so-fun-adulting side of things, I had to buy new tires. And I found out for my car they will only last 15–20,000 miles, so apparently this is now a regular “treat” for myself every couple of years.
- And since I took almost zero photos to share from this slow week, I’m leaving you with this one: a beautiful planter I pass on my morning walk and admire every single time. The curly willow branches are so dramatic! Proof that even during the most uneventful weeks, there’s still something lovely to notice.💗

If you love adding festive touches for the Fourth, these patriotic home decor ideas from the porch to the tabletop are so cute, fresh, and full of classic red, white, and blue!

This classic L.L.Bean boat tote has been a favorite for generations—and this one with the leather handles just exudes old school preppy. It’s sturdy enough for everyday errands and stylish enough for a summer getaway. I especially love the medium size—it would hold a lot without being bulky.

This crunchy Asian sesame chicken salad is the perfect mix of fresh, flavorful, and satisfying! With crisp greens, tender chicken, and a tangy sesame dressing, it’s a delicious way to enjoy a lighter meal without sacrificing taste.

There’s something timeless about a classic metal bed frame, and this bronze beauty from Target is no exception. It would add just the right touch of vintage charm to a bedroom.

This angel food cake topped with coconut whipped cream and fresh berries is what summer dessert dreams are made of. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. And this red, white, and blue treat is perfect for a Fourth of July celebration!

What have you seen this week that you’re obsessed with? Let all of us in on it in the comments!

low key for us here at the beach in Maryland. Very hot to very rainy. Made oyster stew yesterday with the oysters we raise from our dock. Double duty they clean the water and we have them every Friday night for dinner. Always a different way, on the half shell, augratin , fried always so fresh and good. No plans for the 4th this year.
Spending the Fourth where you are sounds amazing Ann! And I bet those oysters are soooo good. I’ve been close to there on a trip to Rhode Island once, and the oysters were some of the best I’ve ever had.
