Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
• My youngest had a birthday this week, and we celebrated with something new to me—an omakase dinner. I had never even heard the word before, but it basically means the chefs choose a series of dishes based on what’s freshest and what they want you to experience.
We just sat and talked while little works of art showed up one after the other. Every one of them was absolutely delicious and it was a really fun way to celebrate. Also, as any mom knows, your child’s birthday is kind of a momentous day in your life for you too…so I decided it was fitting that I enjoy the special treat just as much!
• The weather has felt spring-like around here, which brings joy to my heart. I had dinner with two close friends this week and we did that thing where you think it’s going to be a quick catch-up, and then three hours disappear. And you forget about the threat of severe spring storms and have to drive home in a monsoon.
• I’ve been working on next Monday’s post about professional cleaning hacks from TikTok reels, which has awakened my inner spring cleaning bug. Unfortunately, the urge has hit without the free time. So for now I’m just sitting here researching and writing about cleaning hacks instead of actually doing them.
