Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

Still coming to you from Europe this week! And since I’m trying to enjoy every last minute of this trip, I’ll keep this week’s nutshell short and sweet.

Monday was my birthday, and I can’t think of many better ways to start it than waking up in Switzerland and taking a gorgeous morning walk along a wooded path beside a rushing stream. Not a bad birthday morning at all!

The middle of the day wasn’t quite as enjoyable. We spent it on multiple trains making our way back to Italy, but at least we ended up in romantic Florence. There are definitely worse places to spend your birthday evening!

After a couple of days exploring Florence, we headed to the Italian Riviera for a couple more. And as I write this, we’re on our way back to Rome for our last few days before heading home.
We’ve pretty much been eating and drinking our way through Italy, but we’ve been walking all day every day so I feel a little better about it.

One thing that has surprised me about Italy is how much it looks exactly like Italy! I know that sounds ridiculous, but everywhere we go looks like a scene straight out of an Italian movie. I guess I just didn’t expect the real thing to look quite so much like the pictures.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Rich autumn color brings a special warmth to this elegant fall home tour. Jewel-toned pillows, dried hydrangeas, blue-and-white porcelain, velvet pumpkins, and collected accessories create rooms that feel colorful, layered, and welcoming without losing their timeless appeal.

Velvet is such a lovely way to add warmth and richness to a room for fall. This vintage-inspired floral tapestry pillow offers several beautifully detailed patterns that would look especially pretty layered with solid pillows on a sofa, reading chair, or bed.

Apples and pork are a classic fall pairing, especially when bacon and a splash of bourbon are added to the mix. These bourbon apple pork chops would make a warm and comforting autumn supper that feels special enough for company but still approachable for a family meal.

A beautiful serving platter is one of those pieces that can make even a simple meal feel more gracious. This Morris & Co. blue-and-white floral platter is crafted from porcelain and finished with a delicate gold rim, giving it a timeless look for family dinners, holiday gatherings, or display in a china cabinet.

Fall in the South has its own beautiful color palette, filled with mossy green, warm brown, soft tan, and just a hint of rust. This heritage-inspired fall home tour brings those colors indoors with antique transferware, vintage artwork, brass accents, magnolia leaves, and other collected pieces that feel perfectly suited to a traditional Southern home.
