Come Sit By Me: Volume 66
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

The new blog post I’ve been working on this week is another quote collection post, this time inspired by Valentine’s Day. While I was thinking about what I would use as a feature photo for the post, I remembered a partial love letter I discovered years ago in my parents’ keepsakes, so I dug it out.
It was written in the 1940s, when they were both in college. Even though we knew our parents loved each other and loved us. they weren’t overly affectionate or emotional. So when I read this letter, it feels so WEIRD to think of them as love-struck young people. And even stranger to think my dad would ever write something that mushy. It’s like these were people I never actually knew. (I so wish I had that missing first page…it’s so sweet.💗)
I can’t believe we’re already a week into February! The last of the ice finally melted at my house on Tuesday—it was refreshing not to have the driveway be an ice rink anymore. And it sure was good to get back into a normal routine after being out of it for nearly two weeks. I felt pretty accomplished resuming my regular workouts, my work schedule, and checking off a few miscellaneous tasks around the house.
The one I totally intended to get done but put off (again) is to deal with my closet. The current clothing storage situation isn’t cutting it, and it needs a total rework. Since my daily uniform is pretty much athleisure, I need more than one drawer and a small hanging area dedicated to it. If you have any clever ideas for storing workout clothes where they’re easily accessible in the closet (that aren’t dresser drawers), please share!
A Tip I’ve Been Using This Week (from author Gretchen Rubin):
She talks about how action drives motivation, not the other way around. Instead of waiting to feel motivated to tackle a big list or project, she suggests starting with something small.
- Her one-minute rule: If something takes less than a minute, do it right away.
- And her power hour: set aside one hour and deal with a few nagging tasks.
These both create energy and momentum, and that sense of progress brings the motivation with it!
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
This Dallas home tour features gorgeous timeless interiors with real warmth. Jan Showers’ home is layered, welcoming, and filled with the kind of thoughtful details that feel collected over time.

I love when something practical is also beautiful, like this wooden baby (or dog) gate. A lovely solution for keeping little ones or pets safe without sacrificing the look of your home.

There’s something so comforting about a pot of beef chili simmering away on the stove, especially when the weather is freezing. This classic recipe feels like the kind you’ve been making for years, hearty, familiar, and perfect for an easy family supper or casual gathering with friends.

This brass pepper mill is one of those small kitchen details that quietly elevates everything around it. It feels like the kind of piece you’d use for years and pass down someday.

This post on dreamy pool house cabanas makes me want to fast-forward straight to summer, drink in hand.
