Come Sit By Me: Volume 58
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
I’ve spent most of this week coming to terms with the fact that this recovery is taking its own sweet time. I usually power through a normal sickness, but my body has forced me to take this one seriously. The lingering fatigue has been the hardest part to deal with, I haven’t exercised in almost two weeks, and the only foods that have sounded appealing are carbs. But on the bright side, I also haven’t had a cocktail in all that time, so there’s that little health win. But whether I’m back to normal or not, the sprint to Christmas is starting so it’s time to rally!
Even though I’m still not quite 100%, this week is full of so much good stuff. And I’m determined to enjoy every bit of it.
On Tuesday night, I went to hear the Men of Nehemiah sing at a local church (they’re a Dallas recovery program for men rebuilding their lives from addiction, homelessness, and trauma.) There’s just something so powerful about watching their raw, genuine faith expressed so openly.

Thursday night was a Christmas party with some of my girlfriends. Even though the cocktails were flowing and I wasn’t able to have one, I laughed so much… I always have fun with these special ladies!

Friday is another party, Saturday I’m going to my church’s Christmas music program which is always next-level beautiful, and then meeting up with friends afterward.
And Sunday will be spent trying to get myself packed and organized for the days leading up to Christmas. Then to cap off the weekend I’ll have my other girlfriend group’s Christmas party that night. It will be our 25th, and I’m loving our glamorous “White Christmas” theme this year—thank goodness I got my white outfit a couple of months ago!
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
This colorful traditional Christmas home tour is such a grandmillenial-style delight, filled with classic, Southern touches.

These pretty tiered brass snack bowls feel like the kind of classic serving piece our mothers and grandmothers would have loved. I’d be tempted to leave mine out year-round because it’s just that charming.

These hazelnut thumbprint cookies with toasted nuts, soft crumb, and a little pool of chocolate in the center are simple, classic, and just so comforting.

This scalloped white bowl is a timeless piece that would look lovely on a coffee table, console, or even the kitchen counter.

This baked cranberry cream cheese dip is made up of sweet-tart cranberries and rich, creamy layers of melted cheese. It’s a warm, festive appetizer that would look stunning on a holiday buffet.

What have you seen this week that you’re obsessed with? Let all of us in on it in the comments!

…just have to say (I’m Dreaming of a) White Christmas parties are so much fun! I have had so many over the years – don’t want to change the theme. Of course, everyone dresses in white (we look like a group of angels), I serve a meal that is mostly white, white wine and eggnog, and everyone brings a white gift wrapped in white for the take-away gift exchange (no gag gifts but something everyone wants to steal) and I try to have a white party favor for everyone to take home. Maybe I’m silly but everyone looks forward to the White Party. Have fun!
That sounds beautiful!! I think I wouldn’t mind this theme every year too… maybe I’ll suggest it!!😇🤍
I hope you get all of your strength back soon!
I love the name of the men’s group! Men of Nehemiah is so fitting!❤️
Thanks Susan! It’s an amazing program in South Dallas and I’m going to go back and link it in the newsletter. It’s obviously faith based but also has a military angle too. They have a much higher success rate than a lot of addiction recovery programs out there.
