Come Sit By Me: Volume 47
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

- The week started with a trip down to Waco for the Baylor game. There’s no better way to kick off fall than with college football, even if the Texas weather didn’t get the memo about the season change. Waco is just the cutest town if you’ve never been. Friday night we had dinner at Red Herring and then headed to the rooftop bar at Hotel 1928… Chip and Joanna Gaines nailed the 20’s charm with the parts of the lobby I saw. Saturday was a full day of tailgating, followed by the game, and I was beyond grateful to watch from an air-conditioned suite. ( I even spotted Chip Gaines a couple of suites over, very on-brand for Waco.😂)

- Back at home I had my Function Health bloodwork done, outing me as the health nerd I am. I just love seeing all the numbers and knowing what I need to work on. They take sooo much blood they split it into two appointments, and I only left a day in between. I don’t know if it’s psychological, but my energy was zapped. But I can’t wait to see if I’ve been able to improve the things that were out of range last time, like my Vitamin D.
- And the other thing on my mind this week is my big milestone birthday coming up. I am NOT thrilled about the number of the new decade, but I’m planning a whole week of fun things to soften the blow. Which also means I’m in cram mode on blog work so I can actually step away and enjoy all of it!
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
This Bethesda Colonial Revival is so full of historical charm for a new build, and designer Kelley Proxmire has given each space a fresh, elegant touch. From the classic architecture to the beautifully layered rooms, every detail makes this home feel both gracious and welcoming.

This Threshold Signature Collection from Target is ideal to add some cozy warm wood pieces to the kitchen for fall. There is also a great deal going on where you get $30 off of a purchase of $100.

Crockpot Chicken Piccata is such a wonderful way to step up a weeknight dinner without a lot of fuss. And this dish of tender chicken, tangy lemon, and savory capers is also a Weight Watchers friendly recipe.

These tipped puffer faux fur throws from Anthropologie have the same luxurious feel and look as the one I own that’s discontinued. Take it from me, it’s such a treat to curl up under one one a chilly evening!

Fall decorating doesn’t have to be complicated. This collection is full of simple ideas to help you bring fall into your home.

I’d be interested to know your experience with Function Health post-blood work, not necessarily disclosing your results, but if you thought they were able to put you on a path that actually worked toward obtaining maximum results/wellness. Additionally, something I’d like to share is that my Vitamin D levels were always low despite supplements until I tried Superior Source Vitamin D3 supplements 1000IU from Amazon. These were the ONLY supplements that helped to get me in the normal range. I take just one daily (with water even though they dissolve in your tongue without water) and have no affiliation with the company. Just want to offer you some helpful advice & to anyone else having chronic low levels despite supplementation.
Hi Helen! I’m slowly getting my results back and happy to report my Vitamin D is back in range (I’ve been taking some supplements from Amazon too). As a matter of fact, all of the things that were out of range last time except for one are in range now, but now I have 5 more new things out of range to work on! I’m going to take all of my results to my next physical to discuss with my doctor and have him put them in my records. I like Function Health because I feel like I have more control and it’s a little more understandable than the blood test results I usually get from my physicals. Have you used them?
