Come Sit By Me: Volume 86
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

- One of my favorite parts of my evening walks right now is seeing all of the American flag decor people are displaying on their homes. Maybe it’s just me, but there seems to be much more of it this year—I love that people are feeling extra patriotic for our country’s 250th birthday. This house just had one simple flag hanging from the porch, but wow, does it shine above that magnificent display of limelight hydrangeas!
- Speaking of feeling more patriotic, it’s been so heartwarming seeing Americans come together over World Cup soccer these past couple of weeks. Since several of the games are being played here in the Dallas area, the news has been showing fans from all over the world filling the streets, singing, dancing, waving flags, and celebrating together. It’s so cool to see that much excitement and joy en masse! I’d gladly go to a match just to experience that atmosphere, but if I’m going to spend that kind of money, it’s probably not going to be on a sport I barely understand.

- Bijoux had her very first professional haircut this week at eight years old (I know, I’m overprotective of her). She’s always had a good-enough choppy haircut by me. I don’t think going this short on her body is a good look for her—she’s so skinny. It looks like this already tiny 3 1/2 pound dog lost another pound. For the first couple of days she seemed a little mopey, which I took to mean she was embarrassed that her hair is all gone. As I figured out, she probably wasn’t feeling naked. The poor baby was apparently just irritated from having her private bits shaved, which she promptly turned into a sore by licking and chewing the area. Ouch!
- Amazon Prime Days are going on as I write this, but I’m not in an “I need more stuff” mood. I mostly just took advantage of savings on things I use all the time—supplements, another set of my favorite soft bamboo sheets that keep me cool at night, and a replacement set of coffee mugs I use every day after a couple of mine finally bit the dust. I wasn’t doing much shopping this time around, but I’m always up for hearing about a great find. If you picked up something you love during Prime Days, tell us about it in the comments!
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
If you love classic interiors with a fresh Southern feel like me, you’ll find plenty of inspiration here. These beautifully designed spaces are timeless, welcoming, and full of ideas worth saving.

This small oval console table looks like a designer piece at a much friendlier price. The curved shape and warm wood finish add instant character to an entryway, hallway, or living room.

These key lime bars are the perfect summer dessert. Bright, refreshing, and just the right balance of sweet and tangy for warm-weather gatherings.

This lemon-lined bowl is such a fun piece for the countertop, table, or summer entertaining.

Love the look of extra large matted frames but not the price tag? This clever DIY shows how this woman had the vision to transform old stained matching thrift frames into exactly what she wanted.

What have you seen this week that you’re obsessed with? Let all of us in on it in the comments!

Such a sweet picture of precious little Bijoux! Our little Maltese did not like going for her grooming — even though the groomer was so kind. When we picked her up to come home, she just had to be beside us, covered up with her little blanket! They sure do have their own little personality!
Her “skinny” haircut just makes me laugh, which makes her even more adorable to me!
I love where you hung your flag!
I love that flag too…I wish it was mine!
