Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
- Summer’s starting to arrive here in full force, and I’ve been adjusting my daytime routine to try and work with the heat. No matter what time I go to bed, I seem to wake up really early (thanks menopause and age). I’m using that to my advantage right now—walking outside early before the heat ramps up, and shifting more work to the afternoons. There’s something so peaceful about those quiet morning walks, so I think it’s good for me to shake up my schedule, even though I’m such a creature of habit.
- The summer months are kind of a quiet season in the home decor/lifestyle blogging world, so I’m trying to catch up on all the maintenance tasks I usually put off—website updates, organizing files, and those behind-the-scenes things that never get done. There’s something so satisfying about tidying up the digital spaces too.😊
- I did sneak in a little summer fun… got to try a new-to-me restaurant in Dallas called Il Bracco, and it was worth the drive. Apparently it’s very popular because we went for what I thought was an early dinner, and it was already packed! I wore this cute vest top that I caught on sale at White House Black Market and paired it with my favorite skort that I have in two colors:
- And on Monday afternoon I hung out with a friend at their pool—it felt like I was playing hooky, which made it even better😂. The to-do list was still waiting when I got home, but it was worth it for the conversation and being able to get a little sun without sweating to death. I do kind of miss my pool right now, but do not miss having the maintenance and the cost!

This bright and breezy room has me dreaming of ocean air and long, lazy afternoons with a good book. The patterned blue-and-white sectional, layered with coastal pillows, creates the coziest perch to soak in all that sunshine. And how charming is that wave-trimmed light fixture?

This soft green cake stand is so pretty all on its own—and even more so when it’s holding something sweet! The color is such a soft, vintage-inspired touch that would work for both everyday treats or special occasions.
This cheerful little corner just makes me smile. The golden yellow sofa paired with the vintage floral patterns and whimsical pom-pom trim makes it feel both elegant and fun.
