Come Sit By Me: Volume 99
Inside: Welcome to the weekend and our weekly catch-up, Come Sit By Me. I’m spilling the sweet tea on what’s happened this week, what’s inspiring me, and a few things that have caught my eye that I think you’ll love too!

Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
One good thing that has come out of one of our hotter Texas summers this year is that it turned me into a morning walker. We started walking first thing in the morning to beat the heat just a little, and I’d have to say I love the way it starts my day! We go every single morning now, and we’ve gotten so used to it that we even kept it up in Waco last weekend where we took this photo at sunrise on the Baylor campus. The skies were spectacular and I thought, I normally would have totally missed this.

The rest of my week hasn’t been nearly as peaceful. I leave for Europe soon so I’m in that pulling-my-hair-out pre-trip stage where I’m trying to work ahead, pack for two countries with different temperatures, and remember the 3,000 details that need to happen before I leave on the longest vacation I’ve ever taken.
Proof that my brain is a little overwhelmed this week: you may have noticed you got two emails from me on Wednesday and then nothing on Friday. If you wondered what in the world I was doing, so did I. Please forgive me. Hopefully it’s the only thing I screw up trying to get everything done!
And to make things even more interesting, we’re heading right back to Waco this weekend for another Baylor football game and tailgate. I feel like such a nomad…my travel stuff never gets put away lately.

It was a real treat to be in this suite to watch last Saturday. In case you’re wondering why the stands are so empty in this picture, it was taken in the second half after a good portion of the crowd that had been baking in the direct sun decided to call it a game. I can’t say I blamed them.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
Blue and white works just as beautifully for fall, and this elegant fall home tour is full of inspiration. Chinoiserie, velvet pumpkins, and richer fall colors are mixed in with her classic furnishings for a home that feels seasonal while still staying true to her usual style.

These antique brass Labrador bookends caught my eye because they look like something you might find in an antique shop. They’d add a little personality to a bookshelf or home office and would also make a great gift for a dog lover.

This Tennessee onion dip. looks like the kind of appetizer that would disappear fast. It’s loaded with sweet onions, cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, and smoked Gouda, then baked and served warm right in a cast-iron skillet. Perfect football food for this time of year.

This Woodrow plaid pillow cover from Pottery Barn is such an easy way to add a little fall color without going all-in on seasonal decor. The classic plaid would look great on a sofa or chair, and it’s one you could leave out long after the pumpkins are put away.

There’s so much to look at in this blue-and-white home filled with Southern charm. It’s filled with florals, antiques, chinoiserie, and lots of beautiful color, with that collected-over-time look that makes traditional decorating feel anything but stuffy.
