Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

My life this week pretty much consists of work, trip planning, and Baylor football. I’m working my tail off trying to get everything done before an upcoming bucket list trip to Italy and Switzerland, with weekends in Waco watching Baylor football sandwiched in between.
Last Saturday was the first home game, and it was brutally hot. We took this picture on our way to the stadium after the tailgate, and you might be able to tell we’d already been sweating all afternoon. Nothing says fall football in Texas quite like trying not to have a heat stroke.
The rest of my week has been work, work, work, with getting ready squeezed in wherever I can. Something about traveling makes me suddenly feel like I hate all of the clothes hanging in my closet, but I don’t have time to do much about that. So I’m mostly just making lists and hoping it all somehow comes together.
All good things, and I’m definitely not complaining. Italy and Switzerland have been on my bucket list forever, so I’m incredibly excited! My goal right now is just to get there without losing my mind trying to get ready for it.

Fall decorating doesn’t have to mean changing everything in the house. These quick and easy ways to get your home ready for fall have lots of simple ideas for adding a little fall coziness with warm colors, natural textures, and seasonal touches.

This glass pumpkin cloche with a wooden pedestal is such a cute addition to a kitchen counter or dining room. Fill it with cookies, mini pumpkins, or even just leave it empty—the pumpkin shape makes it pretty all on its own.

Sweet pears, creamy Brie, and flaky puff pastry sound like such a good combination this time of year. These pear-and-Brie puff pastry tarts look fancy enough to serve for a party, but they start with store-bought puff pastry so they’re actually really easy to make.

This English floral serving bowl from Williams Sonoma is one of those pieces that’s almost too pretty to put away. The classic floral pattern would be beautiful filled with salad or fruit on the table, but I’d be just as tempted to leave it out with flowers in it.

Blue and white will always be a favorite of mine, so of course this beautiful Dallas home tour caught my eye. I love how they mixed in green, blush, and orange to keep all the traditional blue and white feeling fresh and colorful.

Where does little 7 yr old stay when are gone to games and traveling elsewhere, so cute, I miss my little Tucker
Thanks for asking Linda! My sweet pup usually comes with me on those frequent trips to Waco. And one of my kids watches her most of the time when I go on trips and a friend when I need it. Dogs definitely make traveling a little less spontaneous and more expensive!
