Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
- This week’s highlight was my friends’ “Bling in the New Year” party on New Year’s Eve. There aren’t many excuses to dress up anymore so wearing a sequin dress + champagne made me very happy.💃🥂 This crew definitely knows how to have fun all year long, so I can’t imagine not celebrating the new year with them!

- Maybe I had a little too much fun, because I’ve been down ever since with a New Year’s Day morning of intense eye pain and what feels like a head cold. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll wake up and feel normal again, but my plans of being well into packing away Christmas and getting a lot of work done have been brought to a halt. I finished binge watching the new season of Virgin River last night and now need my next show—comment with suggestions!

If you’re on the bandwagon of getting your home in order and decluttering, you’ll find this article on 15 Things that are Still Making Your Home Look Cluttered super helpful.

Right now these Fireside Robes are half off. Can’t you just feel the coziness?

This is such a pretty grouping of budget winter decor ideas. I love Diane’s idea of decorating with collections.

What have you seen this week that you’re obsessed with? Let all of us in on it in the comments!

I’m having trouble putting up our Christmas decorations. Maybe, that’s because our daughter couldn’t come home for the holidays this year. My mind must still be waiting for her. Fortunately, my husband sensed the same feeling and jumped in to help. I planned and worked to decorate this house and it was all very pretty, thanks to many ideas I copied from you. . I just enjoyed sitting in the living room and looking at all the things we were given and collected over fifty-two years of marriage. Last year was our first year in this house, but we moved in on December 8, so very few of our decorations were even found to display! Next year I plan to have a party of some type. Our son and his family and our older grandson were the only people who saw our home, but I would do it all again. In fact, I’m looking forward to next year. That’s why so much time has been spent in our attic during the past two days. It’s nearly all labeled and stored neatly. I can’t wait until the day after Thanksgiving next year!
I’ll be looking for your ideas and encouragement in 2025! Thank you for all you do!
I get it. I just love being surrounded by my Christmas decorations so it’s worth it, but it’s always nice to have people over while I have them up too. And thank you for those sweet words!
I second Six Triple Eight movie, and will add Martha Stewart docu on Netflix. Plus the Reagan, Cabrini, Bonhoeffer, and Wicked movies. (I had a list. LOL)
Got that movie on my list to watch. I loved the Martha Stewart documentary and saw Wicked at the theater. I’ll check out those others—thanks!!
I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who hasn’t taken down the Christmas decorations yet. The same thing happened to me, but I’m hoping I feel like doing it soon. We just binge watched Landman. It’s pretty good. Also, if you haven’t seen The Six Triple Eight, it’s a must!
I love Landman and that it’s a Fort Worth and Texas setting and I’m all caught up on it. I’ll give the other show a look this weekend!
