Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

- I had the loveliest Mother’s Day last weekend. We started early at the 8:20 church service which unknowingly was the best move that made all the rest of the day fall into place. At this one very large church we sometimes go to, it is unheard of on a special day like Mother’s Day to have such small, intimate service. (I’m guessing most moms wanted to sleep in.) It’s also super unusual for no one to be around the big Jesus fountain statue there, so we took advantage of the rare empty moment for a photo. The beautiful statue was donated to the church in memory of a family’s daughter, This peaceful spot as you come out of the santuary is truly a gift for all. and it’s become the backdrop for countless families’ photos over the years. That empty service also allowed us to breeze right out to beat the breakfast/brunch rush by just a hair, and we even squeezed in a long walk before the rain started.

- We also went to a crawfish boil last weekend and this Louisiana girl was very happy because I haven’t had any yet this season. I was curious how these Texas friends would do on the seasoning, and I’m happy to report it was delicious and spiced up like it should be. I ended up giving a few crawfish-eating lessons to some newbies (although I could tell everyone isn’t a fan of eating mudbugs).

- We went to see Willie Nelson at the Baylor ballpark Thursday night, and I have a whole new appreciation for this Texas music icon (he actually attended Baylor in 1954). I’d forgotten just how many Willie songs I know until I listened to nothing but his greatest hits on the drive down, and every song I didn’t recognize ended up being just as good. At 93 years old his singing voice is mostly gone now and he spoke through a lot of the lyrics, but he didn’t forget a word. There has to be something to the idea that purpose keeps people going, because he’s clearly not ready to quit doing what he loves. His laid back attitude towards life may be part of his secret too.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
A simple window treatment above the sink can add so much charm and softness to a kitchen, and I love the fresh color and pattern this one brings.

I’ve been thinking about adding a wreath sash to my plain green wreath this summer, and this blue hydrangea monogram design wreath sash caught my eye. So pretty!

This key lime pie dip looks like such a fun summer treat with its creamy texture and bright citrus flavor.

White, and blue hydrangeas, red roses, and flags in a silver bowl? This centerpiece is such an elegant Memorial Day or 4th of July look!

If you love an easy entertaining idea, this lemonade bar setup is full of simple ways to make store-bought or homemade lemonade feel a little more fun for summer gatherings.
