Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
• Last weekend I was in Waco for the last Baylor Bears men’s basketball home game of the season. It was a rainy Saturday, but the crowd was still pretty good despite the weather and the fact that most of the students had already headed out for spring break. Thankfully it was a fun win, which always makes the trip down there even better.

• The next morning after church we went to breakfast at the Hotel 1928 in Waco, which I had been wanting to check out ever since I saw photos when it opened. The building was originally built in 1928 (hence the name) and has been beautifully restored in that same time period style by Chip and Joanna Gaines. It has that warm, classic feel Joanna does so well, and I loved taking in all of the twenties-inspired vintage touches. After breakfast we wandered around a bit and found a couple of library rooms with shelves of books and cozy seating areas. Funny signs like the one above are posted all throughout the shelves warning you not to steal the books… or someone named Larry will come back from the dead to haunt you.

• I’ve started putting out a few small spring touches around the house. Nothing major, just enough to make things feel like the season is changing. It’s amazing how a few flowers and cheerful colors can give me that little thrill of spring fever.
• My walks lately have been full of that first hint of spring where you notice the trees have leafed out and branches are blooming where there was nothing a week ago. It seems like it happens overnight and all of a sudden the whole neighborhood is turning green again.
• All of that had us reminiscing on a walk about our fond spring and Easter memories over the years. For me it was egg hunts, baskets with the plastic grass, after-church pictures in front of the azaleas, and family Easter dinners on sunny spring Sunday. I’d love to know…what’s one of your favorite spring or Easter memories?
