Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

It’s been an amazing week! It all started on Sunday with my best girlfriends and our 25th annual Christmas party. This year we had a White Christmas theme, and it was every bit as beautiful and elegant as I thought it would be. We all wore white and enjoyed a delicious, home-cooked prime rib dinner around a gorgeous table dressed in white fur, candlelight, and sparkles.

But despite the elegant setting and us being dressed like angels in white, it was our typical get-together—lots of laughs, us getting louder (and less elegant) as the night went on, a little chaos, recounting favorite stories, and checking in on each other’s lives. That’s what I love about us… you can dress us up, but we don’t act a bit different.

The next morning, I headed to Del Mar, California for a romantic getaway, and what an incredible Christmas present it has been! We’re staying at the gorgeous Fairmont Grand Del Mar, which looks like a serene European estate. The hotel itself is stunning and expansive, but the property surrounding it is truly breathtaking—a golf course, equestrian center, lush gardens, winding paths, and views that make me want to be outside all day.

The December weather has been phenomenal, so we’ve been walking everywhere—to restaurants, on the beach, and just exploring. We even had over 34,000 steps on Wednesday alone. We watched the sunset from the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial, did a Camp Gladiator workout class in the park, took a Segway tour of downtown San Diego, and enjoyed some really outstanding meals. I love how easy it is to be outdoors and active here! One thing I’ve noticed on our many walks is that very few people you pass even look up, much less say hello. Maybe that really is just a Southern thing??
I’ll be home by the time you’re reading this, but I’m not quite ready to leave—it’s been heaven (and I’m also not looking forward to remembering everything I still need to do before Christmas!).
