Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here… sorry if it’s too early to say that out loud. Holiday decorating is officially finished at my house! And it feels so good. Not just because of how happy and cozy it makes the house feel, but because everything is finally clean and back in order after a week of storage bins, shedding greenery, and glitter.

I know I’m not the only one who jumps into Christmas early, because the very day after Halloween, my Christmas tree decorating posts started rockin’ with traffic. It does feel funny to be hanging ornaments while trick-or-treaters are roaming the streets. But to get in the decorating mood, I light a holiday-scented candle, and then put on Christmas music or a movie in the background (Love Actually has already made its annual appearance),
While I was decorating, I rediscovered a Christmas background playlist I made a few years ago. It’s the perfect soundtrack for trimming the tree, holiday dinners, or wrapping gifts, so I thought you might enjoy it too! You can listen to it here on YouTube.
Now that the halls are decked and the twinkle lights are glowing in the evening again, it doesn’t feel too early at all. In fact, I even got a head start on some holiday baking for a future post.
Even though it’s full-on Christmas mode inside of the house, there’s no winter in the air here yet, The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this week with highs in the seventies and eighties. I’ve made sure to soak it up with my daily walks—it almost feels wrong to be indoors when November feels like this!

And one of my favorite moments this week was catching this gorgeous sunset with my boyfriend. Stopping to appreciate its beauty reminded me of a post I finished writing this week all about gratitude (I’ll be sharing it right before Thanksgiving). Because gratitude can be found in the ordinary everyday—in sunsets, good conversations, and those Christmas decorations that make everything feel a little more magical.
