Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.
- I spent Saturday with one of my kids going to Easter service, dinner, and crashing in our pj’s to watch a movie. And these sweet friends included me in their family Easter dinner on Sunday—it’s always fun to hang out with them plus they had a massive feast of delicious food. I missed going to visit family and having children to egg hunt with for Easter but it ended up being fine. I’m learning that I’m in a new chapter of life now and it’s good too, just different.😊

- Have you packed up your spring and Easter decorations? Now that the holiday is over and May starts next week (I can’t believe it!) I put away all of the bunnies and spring blossoms to get ready for summer. I don’t plan on making major seasonal changes from spring, but I’ll be sure to share my villa’s summer look soon.😎
- I caught a whiff of honeysuckle on a walk this week, and it instantly took me back to being a kid, pulling the little flowers off the vine to taste their tiny drops of sweet nectar. It got me to thinking about what we used to do outside back in the 70’s because we had to find things to entertain us. We rode our bikes around the neighborhood wherever we wanted and our parents never had a clue where we were. We played that game “bombard” where you would hurl a ball at someone as hard as you could. And if we got thirsty, we just drank out of the hose. Compared to what kids do today, I guess I’m lucky to be alive.😂

These easy summer front porch ideas are full of beautiful, breezy inspiration for porch season.

I love the summer texture and the trendy scallops on this sweet little lamp—it feels timeless but still fresh:

Hosting this spring or summer? Here’s a fun and EASY idea your guests will love — a deviled egg board! Think charcuterie… but with eggs as the star of the show. This idea would be perfect for Easter, Mother’s Day, or brunches on the patio.

This wicker sofa is giving all the breezy coastal charm, ideal for relaxed summer evenings on the porch or patio. I can just picture it layered with pretty pillows and a cozy throw.

This Lemon Blueberry Bundt Cake is what springtime dessert dreams are made of. Moist, buttery cake bursting with juicy blueberries and a bright lemon glaze that’s just the right amount of sweet and tangy.
