Welcome to “Come Sit By Me”! It’s our chance to catch up on the little things I’d share with you this week if we could chat on the porch over coffee (or wine depending on the time of day).
Life Lately in a Nutshell.

Well, this time the weather forecasters didn’t overreact. It feels like everyone I know has been forced to stay home thanks to ice, sleet, and snow. I’m still very grateful we never lost electricity—clearly I’m scarred for life from Snowmaggedon 2021 in Texas when we were without power and water for days.
The only places we were able to go Saturday and Sunday in Waco were very careful walks on ice-covered sidewalks to the gym around the corner and to the Baylor basketball game. It somehow went on as scheduled and had a surprising number of fans there… for what turned out to be a very disappointing outcome. That was enough outdoor time for me, especially since the “feels like” temperature was hovering around 3 degrees.
Oddly, I didn’t hate the forced downtime. We hunkered down for two cozy days, crushed a 1,000-piece puzzle, and watched football. I think it makes all the difference to be stranded in place with someone you truly enjoy talking to.
But real life calls, so we decided to brave the drive back to Dallas on Monday. While the highways were okay, in-town driving was still pretty treacherous. As I’m writing this on Friday, I’m still struggling to get my car up the driveway, which remains stubbornly covered in ice.
Being mostly stuck at home has made me notice all the things I need to do. Since I’m not moving around as much as usual, I’m dragging a bit, like I’m in hibernation mode. I keep cranking out plans and lists—just not so motivated to actually do them yet.
Words to Get Through the Week.

Pretty Pictures, Yummy Recipes, and Things I Just Want to Spend Money On.
This living room is a beautiful reminder how traditional design can feel casual and welcoming. I love how this snippet of this room feels both elegant and lived in, just the way a home should.
This wood and antique brass canister set has that collected, timeworn look that never goes out of style. It’s perfect for adding a little warmth and character to a kitchen or pantry while still being wonderfully practical.

This roasted vegetables with gnocchi recipe feels like the kind of comforting, yet healthy meal that we can feel good about eating this time of year.

This is such a sweet, timeless little necklace. It would also make a thoughtful gift for someone you love.

This DIY pagoda-style window cornice is such a charming example of adding architectural character with colorful, tailored flair.
