In My Home: Things I Use & Love

I get asked from time to time where certain things in my home are from or what I actually use on a regular basis. This page is just a running list of things I’ve used, loved, and would buy again.

Lighting.

Pottery Barn Collins Metal Round Chandelier – This is the fixture I have in my family room right now, and I love its large scale, the brass accents paired with black, and how it feels like a fresh, streamlined take on a traditional style.

Ballard Designs Bamboo 6-Light Chandelier – This is the light hanging in my office, and even though I scored it at a consignment shop, I love it enough that I’d pay full price for it if I had to replace it. It gives that collected, modern traditional vibe without feeling formal.

Birch Lane Olive 5-Light Lantern Chandelier – I had two of these over the island in my last home in the extra-large 5-light size, and I loved how they made a dramatic statement without blocking the views.

Rechargeable Motion-Sensor Gallery Wall Lights – I have three of these in gold illuminating my gallery wall. I love that they’re motion-activated, rechargeable, and you can change the color cast of the light. They’re not just there for looks—they’re wonderfully functional for lighting up my dark hallway.

Simran Dimmable Vanity Lights (Polished Nickel) – I have these in my bathroom, and they’re the perfect balance of modern, classic, and a bit of glam.

Faux Greenery & Florals.

Faux Greenery Branches – These are my go-to nonseasonal greenery branches for the mantel, kitchen island, or entry table. I love the presence the height gives—I even sometimes stuff the vase a little to make them even taller.

Faux Hydrangeas – I tend to rotate between a few different faux hydrangea stems depending on the season and where I’m using them. These are the three I’ve had the best luck with:

  • Real Touch White Hydrangea Stems – These are my go-to faux hydrangeas, and the real-touch finish makes them feel and look more natural. And the classic white color works well year-round in just about any space.
  • Real Touch Blue Hydrangea Stems – The same hydrangeas in blue… I use these when I’m decorating with blue and white, especially around chinoiserie pieces.
  • Subtle Green Faux Hydrangea Stems – I originally bought these for fall, but the muted green color and slightly dried hydrangea look make them pretty on my office desk the rest of the year, too.

4-Foot Faux Cedar Topiaries – These flank the walk to my front door and add a classic, welcoming look without needing any maintenance.

White Faux Tulip Stems – I’ve had these tulips for a few years and they still look so real; the white ones go almost anywhere.

Rugs.

Washable Neutral Area Rug – I’ve used this rug in both my living room and my office, and I really like the soft, neutral color and subtle pattern. It adds interest without drawing too much attention. Just a heads-up that the larger sizes won’t fit in a standard home washing machine.

Throw Pillows.

Damask Blue and Green Throw Pillow Covers – Simple, fresh pillow covers I used through spring and summer.

Pottery Barn Textured Chenille Pillow Cover – I used these last fall and kept them out all the way through Christmas. The soft neutral green would work all year round.

Bedding.

Neutral Quilted Coverlet – I’ve had this ivory coverlet for years and it’s really held up; it’s a good weight for most nights, and I love that it actually covers the mattress all the way on both sides, which was something I struggled with in the past.

Charter Club 550-Thread-Count Sheet Set – These are my go-to sheets because the weight feels high-quality, the subtle stripes add a little interest to plain white sheets, and the stripes even make it easy to tell which way the fitted sheet goes on.

Other Home Favorites.

Birch Lane Allenhurst Coffee Table – This is the pretty coffee table that was in my living room and now lives in my office. I love how the mirrored top and glass shelf reflect light, and it’s one of those pieces I think will never feel dated.

Large Digital Photo Frame – I have this in my entry and never get tired of seeing fond memories with people I love pop up as I walk by. It solved my problem of not wanting to clutter up my downsized home with too many printed photos, and adding pictures from my phone is super simple.

Large Cabinet Pulls – These are the pulls I added to my kitchen cabinets. I used mostly 7.5″ pulls, and also a few 12″ pulls on my large pot drawers and trash pullout. I love the price, the availability of the longer lengths, and the fact that the style feels like it will age well.
